My Favourite Branding Photoshoot Locations on the South Coast NSW (and Why I Love Them)

One of the things I love most about working as a brand photographer on the South Coast and South Sydney, is the sheer variety of spaces we get to play with.

From soft coastal light to warm, textural hinterland settings - and beautifully curated studio rentals - there is no shortage of incredible backdrops to bring a brand to life.

And honestly, this region feels like an abundant playground for creating imagery that feels natural, elevated, and deeply aligned.

Before I go any further, I just want to preface this post by saying that where you work is also an excellent location to do a session. Especially if you are a maker, designer with a studio space or in the beauty and wellness industry with a clinic.

Why Location Matters in Your Brand Shoot

Your location isn’t just a background, it shapes the entire feeling of your imagery.

It influences:

the mood and energy of your photos
how natural and comfortable you feel on the day
the story your brand is telling without words

That’s why I’m intentional about choosing spaces that don’t just look beautiful but feel right for you and your business.

The South Coast as an Abundant Creative Playground

If you’re based in the Illawarra and beautiful South Coast of NSW, you already have one huge advantage - a stunning landscape of coastal and hinterland country that becomes an abundant playground for creating natural, story-led brand imagery.

We’re talking:

soft, airy coastal beaches
textured rock formations and cliffs
lush greenery and hinterland spaces

My Favourite Photoshoot Rentals & Studio Spaces

Over time, I’ve found a few go-to spaces that work beautifully for personal branding sessions.

While every shoot is tailored to the client, these kinds of spaces are often part of the mix:

🏡 Light-filled studio spaces

There are some beautifully designed studio hire spaces across the South Coast and surrounding NSW regions that are perfect for clean, minimal brand imagery.

These are ideal when you want:

a more polished or editorial feel
control over lighting and styling
a neutral space that keeps focus on you and your brand

🌿 Coastal + lifestyle homes (Airbnb-style spaces)

I also love using thoughtfully styled homes and rentals that feel lived-in but elevated.

They’re perfect for:

storytelling-style brand imagery
cozy, approachable content
lifestyle-driven personal brands

🌊 Natural outdoor locations

And of course—the coastline itself is one of the biggest gifts of this region.

Some of my favourite types of outdoor settings include:

quiet, uncrowded beaches
dune and coastal grass landscapes
soft bushland and hinterland textures

Each location brings a completely different energy to your shoot, which is why we often combine a few across a session.

How I Help You Choose the Right Location

This is never a one-size-fits-all approach. Where we shoot always depends on the kind of photos you need and want. Sometimes a few studio shots in my tiny studio paired with a few at a local beach nearby is plenty. And other times a rental location is a better fit.

Before your shoot, we look at:

your brand personality and tone
how you want your audience to feel when they see your photos
where you’ll actually use the images (website, socials, launches, etc.)

From there, I can recommend locations that support your story - not distract from it.

Bringing It All Together

The magic of branding photography isn’t just in the photos themselves - it’s in how everything comes together.

The right light, the right setting, the right energy… all working together to create imagery that actually feels like you.

Not forced. Not performative. Just aligned.
