Saddleback Mountain Views
Photography started as a mental health project for me many moons ago. I’d get up before sunrise on the weekends, grab my entry-level Canon 1000D camera and venture into the colourful early mornings of Surry Hills to capture the atmosphere of worn out party goers, the home less, and everything in-between.
For no other reason than to search for something “more” than where I was at that time.
Now, almost 20 years later, the scenery has changed but the sentiment and reason stay the same. I’m older, more tired and riddled with health issues that make me feel like life has been stolen from me. My once vibrant personality and good looks has been replaced with chronic fatigue, arthritis and an inflamed shell that has me unrecognisable as the weight piled on in a short amount of time.
These “not portrait” works are my escape. They are my attempt to slow down and heal from the inside out.
The photos are a bi-product of my little excursions and not necessarily the entire point of all of this.
This outing took me to Saddleback Mountain which happens to be very close to our home.
I hope you enjoy.
